Letter Home from Coach Terry

Dear Irvine Football Families,

As we get into mid March I want to give you an update as to what is happening with the program. Our coaching staff is complete, spirit packs are being ordered, strength training is going strong and progress reports have been sent out.

We have completed our staffing for next year and the breakdown follows:

Quarterbacks - Erik Terry
Running Backs - Peter Abe (class of 2001)
Wide Receivers - Justin Stanfield and Tom Griffin
Offensive Line - Jon Resendez (class of 2000) and Tim Crouch (class of 2009)
Defensive Line - Tim Langham (class of 1997)
Defensive Ends - Zaverio Brenner
Linebackers - Mark Owen and Barry Schulenberg
Defensive Backs - Erik Terry and Chris Edwards (class of 2003)
Kickers/Punters - Peter Abe

As of today 98% of the players have returned their spirit pack order forms. Payment will not be due until May 14th which is the day we will distribute the spirit packs. Our 2010 logo is very similar to the Teammates for Life logo which is the word IRVINE with the laces of a football above it. If you did not see the spirit pack letter you can download it at irvinefootball.org and click on "handout section."

The offseason lifting program is in full swing and 91% of the players are finding time to get their 2 workouts per week done. If a player is not in the offseason football class or Advanced Weight Training then the weight room is open every morning at 6:45 am. Currently Track and Field is the only spring sport with a consistent strength training program so all other spring sport athletes should be getting their workouts done with football. We will be doing strength max testing the week of March 29 - April 2 so the players can see their progress. The weight room will be dark during Spring Vacation and the players will be encouraged to participate in a period of "active" rest.

Finally, progress reports for the 3rd quarter have been mailed out. I have access to those reports and I have met with nearly all of the football players who have a D or F on their progress report. I have also met with those student athletes who have comments that do not coincide with our team values. These meetings have gone well and your sons have assured me that they will be working harder to improve their academics.

If you ever have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me by email or phone. Thanks for all you do to support Irvine Football.

Respectfully,

Erik Terry
